Urban and other nonagricultural dense settlements
The dense settlement anthrome level is very densely settled with greater than 20% of the land being classified as urban. While this anthrome level occupies the smallest land area–including protected area and key biodiversity area–it houses the largest percentage of the global population. It produces the second-lowest percentage of global food calories but more than the wildlands anthrome level.
