Grasslands, Steppes and Savannas are covered by grasses and other herbaceous plants with few trees or shrubs. Savanna is a tropical grassland biome characterized by tall grasses and scattered trees, typically found in warm regions with distinct wet and dry seasons. \\ The grassland, savanna, and steppe biome occupies the largest percentage of global land area, with the second largest percentages of protected area and key biodiversity area. This biome contributes the second largest percentage of global food calories and the third largest percentage to carbon storage compared to the other biomes.
