The village anthrome level is densely populated agricultural area, distinguished by the type of agriculture in each class. This anthrome holds the largest percentage of global population and produces the largest contribution to global food calories. Villages contribute the second lowest percentages to protected area and key biodiversity area while occupying the second smallest percentage of global land area.
